The day the Lord created hope was probably the same day he created Spring. ~Bern Williams

Isn’t it true that there is something hopeful, reassuring, life-giving about the Spring? Every season has something to teach us, the Summer speaks of light and play, the Fall of change and color, and Winter of rest and stillness. As we enter into Spring, let us reflect on what Spring has to teach us.

After the cold and darkness of Winter, Spring is here to remind us that life and birth come again. We live in cycles in which death is followed by birth, chaos followed by order, slowing down and turning in followed by increased energy and stepping out. In this time of new life, creation, and re-connection, what is that you are being called to lean into, step toward, or give life to?

Certainly in Spring we physically go outdoors more often, we begin to plant seeds in our gardens and to welcome the birds home. I wonder, however, how this journey might parallel other parts of our lives. Take a moment to pause and reflect on your own answers to these questions:

What in my life is being planted or birthed right now?

In what ways might I create and empower?

Which pathways in my life is it time to walk towards and step bravely onto?

From the Christian perspective, the season of Spring is accompanied by Easter. The resurrection story is innately a story of death and rebirth. With each passing day we are surrounded by more light and life. As you move into Spring and towards Easter, consider where the story of resurrection is entering into your journey this year. What new life do you have to celebrate?

Happy Spring,
